Intent

Religious Education is a crucial subject in our school because it plays a vital role in developing pupils' understanding of different faiths, values, and beliefs. It encourages children to explore and respect the diversity of religions, cultures, and traditions within our society, promoting mutual respect and understanding.

How RE is taught at EWPA

At our school, we use the Bexley Agreed Syllabus, which provides a secure platform for children to explore ideas about how they live and the things they believe, even if they differ from those of other people they know. The syllabus follows a largely multi-faith approach, with key questions answered with reference to different world religions and humanism. Good practice in RE, as well as European and domestic legislation, has established the principle that RE in schools without a religious character should be inclusive of both religious and non-religious worldviews. Therefore, our school ensures that the content and delivery of the RE curriculum are inclusive in this respect.
