DT
Intent
At East Wickham Primary, we are committed to providing a comprehensive and engaging Design and Technology (DT) curriculum that nurtures students' creativity, problem-solving abilities, and practical skills. The focus is on creating hands-on learning experiences, fostering innovation, and developing an understanding of design principles and processes. We aim to provide a rich and stimulating DT curriculum that empowers students to become confident designers and makers. By fostering creativity, problem solving skills, and technical expertise, we aim to equip our students with the necessary skills to engage with the world of design and technology in a meaningful and purposeful way.
How DT is taught at EWPA
Three units of DT are covered across a year; these include mechanisms and structure, textiles and Cooking & Nutrition. Each unit follows an enquiry based approach where children are encouraged to plan, explore and create using a range of equipment and resources. They actively engage in DT lessons, demonstrating enthusiasm, enjoyment, and curiosity.
