Our homework
Spellings
Weekly spelling will be sent home on Fridays for the children to practise. We will not test the children on these, but we will check to see that they are spelled correctly in writing assignments.
Please see the list of words with common exceptions that children should be able to spell by the end of Year 4.
Times tables
Each week your child will complete their Club 60/20 test on a Thursday. These tests will be sent home each week so the children can see how their scores are improving. Please use the websites below to practice your times tables. As we always say in class, knowing your times tables up to 12 x 12 will make any maths learning you do so much easier! It is very important you practice as often as you can.
Reading
You must read at home as often as you can. As a minimum, we expect you to read at home with an adult or sibling at least 3 times a week, 15 minutes a time. If you wish to access the school library for your ‘read at home’ books, you need to have read at home with an adult at least 20 times in a new term.
Your login details for ‘Pick a Tale’ can be found stuck in the back of your reading journals. IMPORTANT NOTE: The QR code for Pick a Tale app does not work. You must type ‘Pick a Tale’ into your app store to download the app.
Topic
Each half term the children will have a homework grid with 9 pieces of topic homework to complete. Children are expected to complete a minimum of 6 tasks over the half term. We would like the children to bring one piece of homework in every Wednesday.
