Ofsted Report - GOOD - May 2016

Dear Parents/ Carers,

I am delighted to attach the official report from our recent Ofsted inspection. (21-22 April 2016.) This will be publicly available on the Ofsted website by 17th May 2016.

We had a large team of five inspectors who visited all classes and examined all aspects of the school and its wide ranging functions. I am thrilled to announce that in every aspect our school was graded as 'good' with several elements of outstanding teaching and practice.

Our school has undergone so many changes since merging in 2013 following the decision to place the Key Stage Two department into special measures at that time. There is a great deal to celebrate in achieving a solid ‘good’ under the revised and stringent current Ofsted regime.

This report recognises the improvements that have been made through the dedication and determination of our senior leadership team, the expertise of our teachers, the hard work and attitude of our children, together with the support of our Governing Body and the backing of parents.

I am particularly pleased with the comments that "pupils behave well in lessons and around the school. They are polite and show respect for each other" which results from our work on behaviour systems and creating a school council that has a real voice in decisions in the school.

Also rewarding is the comment that "the curriculum gives pupils a wide range of experiences which broadens their horizons and helps them to aim high."This arises from the many visits and visitors that we build into a school year to extend children's knowledge and to give them opportunities to describe that learning at home.

I would like to thank parents for your support throughout the inspection, which was tremendous. The inspectors were very impressed with the overwhelmingly positive responses on Parent view and by the parents who called in to speak directly to them about their positive experiences with the school.

I am incredibly proud of this report and the recognition of our high expectations having been met. Moving forwards now, we will work hard on the three areas which kept us from an 'outstanding judgement' and we shall be hunting that down for the next visit!

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs S. Manzi,

Message from the Governors

I am very happy to join with Mrs Manzi in sharing with you the Ofsted report issued following the recent review of EWPA. As a governing body we have seen the relentless approach to improvement that the senior leadership team has driven across the school since the previous Ofsted visit.

This report acknowledges that those efforts have had a significant effect on the quality of teaching, the school environment and, most importantly, the outcomes for our pupils, your children. Our only goal as a school is to provide the best possible opportunity for our pupils to maximise their potential by giving them the critical educational foundation from which they can maximise their potential as they go through life.

Today's report shows we are getting it right.

My fellow governors and I are proud to be part of this ongoing journey and we would like to thank all the school staff and you, the parents, for all you do to support your children in their learning and personal development.

Best Wishes

Mr. M. Jeffers

Chair of Governors
