Holocaust Memorial Day

Bexley Holocaust Memorial Day – Stand Together
29th January 2020

East Wickham Primary Academy proudly took part in the HMD service at the Bexley Civic Offices with the Mayor – Geraldene Lucia-Hennis.
The children took part in activities to create a purple memorial flame representing joy in its colour and keeping the memories alive of past events. They listened to Holocaust survivors speak about their experiences as children using the kinder transport and heard the songs sung by the Jewish people as they were marched to the camps - sung in Yiddish and English. The children had to think about how they would find ways to change the world going forward.
Our children represented our school respectfully and maturely and were commended by several people across the morning.
