GDPR and Social Media

Dear Parents/ Carers, 
I know from the positive responses that we get that you value and enjoy our Facebook page posts. 
You will have noticed that there has been a drop off in the number of pictures of events that we have posted on our Facebook page over the last few months. 
We are now having to work to the very stringent guidelines with the GDPR regulations and this means that where we do not have your written permission to share images of school events – we cannot do so. 
We sent every parent a letter last term explaining these new rules and asking permission to share images but, sadly, we had a very low return.
We do not attach children’s individual names to our posts but we do identify the class so that parents can see quickly if it is their child’s class. 
We will send the permission letters out again this week, please be aware that if we do not get the majority returned then there may be some classes where we are unable to share school event photo’s with you. 
Please read the letter carefully and return it as soon as you can.
