A Caring Christmas at East Wickham Primary Academy
The children of East Wickham Primary Academy take the school vision of “Caring, Supporting, Achieving” very seriously!
When Layla, in her role as a school council lead, asked Mrs Manzi (HT) if we could provide some toys to the children in hospital this Christmas, we were delighted to mobilise the school to support this great cause.
Children, parents and staff all contributed presents and the staff of Queen Elizabeth hospital were delighted to accept them. Carol and Judy (play specialists) from Queen Elizabeth Hospital school room were incredibly overwhelmed.
Donations from our very generous parents exceeded all expectations and we collected over four hundred toys, books and cuddly toys - including some wrapped as individual presents.
Mrs Manzi said “Layla is typical of our amazingly caring children and the family ethic we promote at our school. Even at this busy time of year and amid an Ofsted visit, the school council encouraged their classmates to support this very worthwhile cause”.
The school has been awarded another securely Good rating by Ofsted who commented very positively on the “East Wickham family” and that pupils feel included and valued at the school.
This event has certainly demonstrated all of that!
