At East Wickham Primary Academy, we love ART!
Art allows our children to think and learn visually and to experiment and express themselves in a creative way. We explore various artists, designers and makers throughout history and apply their techniques and ideas to our own work. This year, we are using a range of 2D, 3D and digital media including sketching, painting, sculpture, collage and photography.
Pupils’ art is displayed around the school to celebrate their hard work and we are always impressed with their accomplishments! Along with exciting competition opportunities, all year groups are given the opportunity to improve their art skills throughout the year, which culminates and is celebrated in our successful summer Art Gallery.
We hope you enjoy looking through examples of our art work below, including last year's circus-themed pieces.
Miss Power, Art Lead
Miss.Power's S.F.A group have written deeply perceptive responses to 'The Village that Vanished' - a book about bravely escaping slavery. To celebrate Black History Month and express their ideas, they have sensitively illustrated pivotal scenes from the story.
Congratulations to Shani Davis in 6B whose fantastic design won her an invite to the Perfect Packed Lunch awards final in Canterbury. At Beaney House of Art and Knowledge, her artwork was displayed alongside selected finalists from schools across Kent. During the award ceremony, Shani won her category and was presented with three well-deserved certificates, along with a bag of goodies!
We are very proud of Shani's achievement and would like to say well done to all EWPA children who entered the competition; next year you could make it to the final!
